Words and Silences

Words and Silences, the journal of the IOHA seeks contributions for the volume of 2012 in the following categories: reviews of books, movies, plays, exhibitions or other performances that are based on oral history.

GUIDELINES

Contributions may be written in English or Spanish (or both, which would save us from translation work)

Use Word for Windows 95 or a newer version.

For short pieces, please include references in the text if necessary, and footnotes at the bottom of the page.

For longer pieces, place footnotes at the end of the article as text, and not through automatic formatting.

RERERENCES

(a) Author (name and surname), Title (in bold if it is a book and “in quotes if it is an article, etc.”, Publication date (place, publisher, date in case of book, journal name in bold, number and date of an article), p or pp.

(b) Subsequent references: author’s last name, abbreviated title, p or pp.

(c) Interviews: full name of the interviewee, interviewed by (name of the interviewer), place, date, reference to a collection (if applicable).

The deadline for receiving papers is February 1^st 2012. Please pass on this request to other oral historians.

Rules and deadlines: It is preferable that the contribution is sent as an attached Microsoft Word document. The footnotes must be included only within parenthesis and not using the automatic format. Images or illustrations must be scanned at 72 dots per inch (dpi) and sent in jpg or pic format.

Maximum length:

- Conference announcements, meetings and other events: 250 words

- Conference reports: 500 words

- Archive news: 500 words

- New projects: 1000 words

Deadlines:

October 15^th – to be published on the website in January.

April 15^th – to be published on the website in June.
