Bulletin of the International Oral History Association (published twice a year)
Volume 19:2, June 2011

From the President

Dear readers, IOHA members and friends:

I am honoured and pleased to draw your attention to the newly established online version of the IOHA journal Word and Silences. As you will see, Juan José Gutiérrez and Helen Klaebe, who largely contributed to its creations, did a great job.

I believe that compared to the paper journal, the online version will not only be more accessible to the readers and the general public but also will make the contact between the editors and the contributors easier. Our ambition, too, is to improve the communication between the readership and the authors. The idea has been to develop a discussion platform around the journal and open space for a larger discussion, which we expect. At the same time, we believe with this format and these tools our organization becomes more democratic.

With great impatience we will be awaiting contributions from all over the world where oral history is undertaken. We believe that in today's global world, every local research has something to tell to all of us.

We are looking forward to reading your work and getting to know you through the discussions on the journal’s webpages as well as personally meeting you at the upcoming conference in Argentina in September 2012.
